DOP KOFI BOAKYE HIT THE SACK AT AGE 60 FROM THE GHANA POLICE SERVICE

After more than 30 years of service, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye, a well-liked police officer, is retiring today.

As the chief of the Legal and Prosecution Division of the Ghana Police Service, COP Boakye departs his position.

It is also his 60th birthday.

His family, friends, and top security officials, including IGP George Akuffo Dampare, wished him farewell during a ceremony today.



The security firebrand, affectionately known as Commander One, is credited with some of the most high-profile crime-fighting efforts the country has ever seen.

The Commissioner of Police, in 2005, led officers from the Accra Region Command to apprehend the notorious armed robber, Ataa Ayi, and some members of his gang, making him a household name across the country.

His stint as the Ashanti Region’s police chief was one that instilled fear in the heart of many robbers’ because of his dynamic approach to fishing out criminals in the community.


There is no question that Kofi Boakye is qualified to handle the country's insecurity given his superior track record and experience in combating crime.

He held the position of Director General in charge of planning and research.

As a result of his bravery in battling crime while serving as Accra's police chief, he is dreaded by the general populace.

He was formerly the commander of the Ashanti Area and is renowned for upholding law and order. He received a promotion in June 2016 to his present position.

He has a reputation as a "no-nonsense police chief."

Nathan Kofi Boakye holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from KNUST and is a certified ballistic analyst from the Metropolitan Police Support Services in the United Kingdom.

The University of Ghana, Legon, awarded him a Master's degree in Public Administration as well.

He is a barrister at law and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Administration from Leicester University in the UK.Jaguardjet
